Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Radon, and Soil Vapor Intrusion


TRC provides comprehensive expertise in indoor air quality (IAQ) consulting.


Under the direction of TRC’s Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs), IAQ sampling/evaluations are typically conducted utilizing instrumentation equipped with data-logging capabilities to collect real-time indoor air sampling data for baseline parameters including:

  • Carbon monoxide
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • VOCs
  • Particulate (dust)

In addition, TRC conducts sampling and laboratory analysis for other IAQ constituents such as mold spores, metals, and other site-specific contaminants of concern. After field inspection, data collection and evaluation by TRC’s industrial hygienists, recommendations and specifications are developed to mitigate any IAQ issues identified. TRC is nationally recognized in the field of odor measurement, identification, modeling, and control engineering. We have conducted hundreds of studies involving:

  • Sensory quantification of odor emissions
  • Identification and quantification of specific odorants
  • Community odor monitoring
  • Determination of the impact of specific emission sources on community odor levels

TRC’s odor modeling techniques can predict instantaneous occurrences of odors at various receptor locations, for both point and area sources. Potential odor impacts for odor control systems under design, and those control requirements necessary to preclude odor complaints, can be predicted. TRC has a fully equipped olfactory laboratory for sensory odor evaluation.
