The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) updated the Vapor Intrusion (VI) Technical Guidance (VIG; Version 4.1 dated January 2018). The VIG updates are subtle but certain changes to the VI evaluation process can have a significant impact on the outcome of a Remedial Investigation (RI) and the ability of a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) to issue a Final Remediation Document (i.e., Response Action Outcome, or “RAO”) for a site.
TRC prepared this summary to help you evaluate how the changes will impact sites undergoing environmental remediation. The summary expands on the Guidance Document Change Log posted on the NJDEP’s website by providing specific references to the changes that are most likely to impact the progression of Receptor Evaluations that are typically prepared during the RI phase.
We trust our assessment will help you evaluate the remedial programs at your site. Should you have any questions or need additional details on how the changes could impact future remediation at your site, TRC’s LSRPs are ready to assist.
