Tom Bradley International Terminal Renovation Program

Industries

Client

Los Angeles World Airports

Project Location

Los Angeles, CA

The Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) was a $737 million renovation program at LAX that made traveling through this international gateway safer, faster and more comfortable. The largest single component of the project added 45,000 square feet of space to house a new inline, checked-baggage security screening facility, which reduced passenger congestion in the airline ticketing lobby by removing the many van-sized, explosive detection systems previously located there. The project also involved renovations and interior modifi cations to the departures / ticketing lobby, customs and immigration arrivals hall, arrival corridors and waiting areas. The project included four new state-of-the-art airline lounges to elevate the level of amenities and comfort for international passengers, and a new electrical substation facility for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for LAX. The substation provides power for new baggage handling systems and for CTC (X-ray and explosion detection machines).

TRC provided construction inspection and office engineering services for the project.
