TRC provided construction management and construction inspection services for improvements that were made to Interstate 81 and Molly Pitcher Highway (US-11) at their intersection (Exit 3) in Antrim Twp. Overall project length is approximately 1 mile. Bridge rehabilitation work involved fabricated structural steel repairs, replacement of the bearings, and total deck and parapet replacement on US-11 (Molly Pitcher Highway) over I-81. Roadway work involved the relocation of ramps, signal installation, pavement widening, addition of turn lanes, and milling and overlay of the wearing surface.

TRC’s construction management work involved assisting PennDOT’s Assistant District Construction Engineer with the following:

  • Administration of the construction contract
  • Conducting biweekly progress meetings
  • Preparing all documents for, and being the main presenter in, Claim Review Committee meetings
  • Preparing correspondence for the Department
  • Overseeing the project’s documentation control system
  • Coordinating construction inspection activities

During construction, TRC assigned a construction inspection staff that consisted of a part-time Transportation Construction Manager (TCM), a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor (TCIS) and a full-time Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) to inspect all bridge and roadway work, as well as provide documentation, testing and processing of payments to the contractor.
