TRC provided engineering, procurement, construction and management services for a new 115/34.5kV substation under the terms of an Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) contract. The project included the installation of a new 115kV transformer, 115kV circuit and five (5) 34.5kV circuits.
The project consisted of two main challenges. The first was a constrained energization date. The engineering associated with foundation design involving liquefiable soils was another project challenge.
Our detailed project schedule outlined the necessary critical tasks that were necessary in order to meet the energization date. Our project management and construction management teams monitoring scheduling activities weekly throughout the project.
The design utilized steel piles for the installation of foundations in order to overcome the liquefiable soil issues that existed. Our senior engineers were utilized in-house, as well as specialty contractors, to design a solution that was both feasible and economical for the client.
This project allowed for increased reliability and stability to the 34.5kV system in the area.
