Stafford Park is a 350-acre tract of land in Stafford Township, New Jersey, just south of Route 72 and adjacent to the Garden State Parkway. The property formerly contained a 25-acre unlicensed landfill that was mitigated with clean fill, and a variety of county, municipal, state and private facilities. With the assistance of TRC, The Walters Group completed a redevelopment of the site to include over 600 residential units, retail space, an ice rink, office space, a new and relocated water tower, and a new Motor Vehicle Commission facility. Over the course of the project, TRC provided a comprehensive range of services that included traffic studies, civil/site engineering and environmental engineering and permitting.
From a traffic standpoint, TRC transportation engineers prepared a comprehensive Traffic Impact Study and developed the associated highway improvement designs that involved the construction of an “English Coupled” intersection on Route 72, a section of eight-lane divided highway, and reconstruction of the Garden State Parkway entrance and exit ramps at Milepost 63. As part of the site plans, a stormwater management system was developed that incorporated an innovative bio-retention process to improve the quality of the adjacent wetland areas and the water quality of Mill Creek downstream. Development and construction permits were successfully acquired for the project from the Stafford Township Planning Board, the New Jersey Pinelands Commission, the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
