Kent Nilsson is a senior consulting engineer working out of TRC ’s Greenville, South Carolina office. He has 30 years of experience in geotechnical and environmental consulting. His consulting experience across the U.S. has given him exposure to many challenging soil and foundation conditions ranging from collapsible alluvium to expansive clays to liquefaction-susceptible silts. The past 25 years of his engineering have been mainly focused on industrial process residuals. His expertise particularly lies in in the constructive use of waste materials, landfill and waste lagoon vertical expansions, alternative cover materials, and construction on extremely soft waste materials. He has authored numerous technical publications sharing his experience in working with such challenging conditions. He is a registered professional engineer in 11 states.
