LOWELL, Mass. – TRC Companies Inc., a leader in engineering, environmental consulting and construction-management services, has hired Mark Murray of Albuquerque to head up its electric licensing and planning practice in New Mexico.
Murray has more than 30 years of experience in the electric utility industry and has directed and managed transmission, engineering and land departments for power suppliers and rural electric cooperatives in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.
“The breadth and depth of Mark’s experience in the electric utility industry will be a huge asset for TRC and our clients,” said John Cowdery, senior vice president and environmental sector director. “His expertise in a multitude of areas bolsters TRC’s proven ability to help clients successfully plan and implement their projects.”
Murray has a long track record of siting electric transmission and generation facilities throughout the Southwest, helping bring affordable electricity to millions of homes and businesses. He has been instrumental in negotiating easements for power lines, generation facilities and telecommunications projects across private, tribal and public lands.
Murray has been especially adept at building collaborative relationships with Native American tribes and the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.
From 2011-2013 Murray served on the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Desert Advisory Council as an appointee of the Department of the Interior.
Murray holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University, a Master of Arts in Computer Information Systems from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the College of Santa Fe. He is a registered land surveyor in New Mexico and a member of the International Right of Way Association. He is also deeply involved in the Western Utility group and served as its chairman from 2006 to 2012.
