As CEO of Lowell-based TRC Cos., Chris Vincze has engineered 10 acquisitions in the past five years. But none of them comes close to this one.
On Tuesday, TRC wrapped up its $130 million purchase of Willbros Group’s professional services business. TRC, an engineering and construction management firm, will turn the acquired business into its pipeline services division.
Buying the Willbros business — a Tulsa, Okla.-based operation that offers a range of pipeline construction and maintenance services — will bring at least $200 million in annual revenue and about 850 employees into TRC’s fold. By comparison, TRC has about 3,300 employees, and it reported $546 million in revenue in its last fiscal year.
