The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has issued new minimum federal safety standards for underground natural gas storage facilities. This ruling is effective Jan. 18, 2017 and operators of storage systems must implement these regulations no later than Jan. 18, 2018.
