AES Armenia Mountain Wind, LLC

Project Location

Bradford and Tioga Counties, Pennsylvania

Designed as a 124 turbine project on approximately 10,000 acres of land in Bradford and Tioga Counties, the Armenia Mountain Wind Energy Project will be the largest wind farm developed in Pennsylvania. The project required an extensive program of field surveys to support local, state, and federal permits and approvals.

Extensive field surveys of the project site including wind turbine locations, access roads, substation locations and transmission line alternatives. Such studies included wetland delineations, identification of potential timber rattlesnake habitat and populations of creeping snowberry, archaeological and architectural surveys, and a housing survey. Documentation submitted for the project to local planning agencies included visual simulations, and assessment of shadow flicker and noise. Comprehensive environmental permitting support. All environmental permits/approvals were successfully obtained including local land use development approvals, wetland permits, archaeological and architectural approvals; erosion and stormwater NPDES permits; and threatened and endangered species clearance. Construction support that includes monitoring of wetland permit conditions.
