TRC was retained by PennDOT Engineering District 3-0 to provide inspection services during the completion of this $49.9 million reconstruction/rehabilitation project that impacts approximately 2 miles of I-80 eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) in northeast Pennsylvania. Aside from the pavement reconstruction work, the project entailed significant structures-related work including the construction of a new 17-span structure carrying I-80 WB over the Susquehanna River (approximately 2065 LF), rehabilitation of the existing 19-span structure carrying I-80 EB over the Susquehanna River (approximately 2000 LF), widening of a 3-span structure carrying I-80 WB over SR 339, and a new single span structure carrying I-80 WB over the D&H railroad. Three additional structures on I-80 EB were also rehabilitated.

At peak periods, TRC has provided a 13-member inspection staff that includes an Inspector Manager (TCM), two Inspector Supervisors (TCIS), and 10 Construction Inspectors (TCI). The project is being managed administratively using PennDOT’s computerized ECMS NeXtGen system and is slated for an on-time completion in 2015 after five construction seasons.
